Overall a really good school, I do wish however that there was more effort put into counseling. A school of over 1,000 kids needs more than one guidance councilor. Also, why are there five administrators? Tons of fun activities for kids but sadly comes to the detriment of teacher pay. Rick Veasey will nickel and dime you for lower pay over time. Also, the insurance and 401k here are abysmal. Very weird hush-hushness about pay. No salary schedule and you will be given offer letter mid-year when its too late to ask for a raise. You can't speak to anyone about pay or you will be let go. Great place to get started in your career and get experience to land a better job but I do not recommend this is a place to stay long-term if you have any desire to retire one day or if you are the provider for your families healthcare.
Also, you will do a TON of extra work here with no additional pay. Lots of field trips, enhancements, carpool duty, etc. All are on the teachers, aides, and parent helpers. More 'extra work" than any other school unfortunately. Make sure you are paid fairly and just know that you will never get that raise that you deserve.
Also, when kids are bad, they never go to the Directors office. Rick is essentially a warm body to fill a seat. Nice guy! Just very very absent.
